It sounds silly but where did you find the black dots? I had a problem finding black dots last year when I did this project with my class so we used colored dots. I blogged about it here:

Lindsey~ I used a die cut and black construction paper. We have an Ellison Diecut with 9 1 inch circles on it and that is what I used!!!
